Conductors often need considerably more than a single score during a rehearsal. Each Director gives extra space for spare music, full scores, books, rehearsal notes, pencils and other materials while keeping the main desk clear and ready for use.

Extra storage behind every desk

The defining feature of the Director is the additional layer positioned behind the main music desk. This creates a useful storage compartment for spare scores, books and stationery without reducing the working area available to the conductor.

Materials can remain organised and within easy reach throughout rehearsals and performances, making it much easier to move between pieces, notes and reference material without needing a separate table or additional stand.

Knob-free height adjustment

Each Director uses Manhasset's famous knob-free adjustment system. The Magic Finger Clutch allows the stand to be raised or lowered simply by moving the desk into position, without needing to loosen or tighten an adjustment knob.

The friction-tilt neck allows the desk angle to be changed just as easily before holding it securely in place. This allows each stand to be positioned quickly for rehearsing, conducting or score study without interrupting the flow of a rehearsal.

Each Director uses the same substantial Manhasset construction found across the professional concert stand range, providing the strength and stability required for regular educational and professional use.

The solid aluminium desk provides plenty of room for large scores and folders, while the additional compartment accommodates further music and materials behind it. This makes the Director particularly useful where substantial scores and multiple pieces of music need to be managed throughout a rehearsal or performance.

Stable, but still easy to move

The Director is designed primarily as a permanent or semi-permanent concert music stand rather than a folding travel stand. Despite its larger desk assembly and approximately 4.55kg weight, each stand remains straightforward to move between rehearsal rooms, teaching spaces and performance areas.

The desks can also be tilted fully back when required, helping to make the stands more manageable when being moved or stored.

Yes. The standard Manhasset concert stand carts are designed to carry compatible Director, Symphony, Orchestral and Fourscore models.

The Director uses a standard-width desk with storage behind it. The Fourscore has an extra-wide desk for multiple pages but no built-in rear compartment.

The Director has a deeper storage compartment behind the desk for books and additional music. The Orchestral instead has a second ledge beneath the main desk for smaller accessories.

The Regal combines rear storage with an extra-wide desk, accessory shelf and twin support posts. The Director is lighter and more compact, with a standard-width desk.

Often, yes. Replacement parts are available for many models, and worn cosmetic finishes can sometimes be carefully prepared and refinished. Avoid altering working mechanisms in a way that could affect safety or warranty coverage.

Wipe the desk, shaft and base with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry them. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents and products that could damage the powder-coated finish or enter the clutch mechanism.

No. Do not apply oil or lubricant to the height-adjustment shaft, as this can reduce the holding power of the friction-grip clutch.

Check the carton and packing materials carefully, as small fixings can remain inside. Contact the supplying retailer promptly with the model and order details if anything is missing.

The tapered nut inside the shaft may have become unseated during transport. Fully compress the shaft, remove the base bolt, firmly tap the chrome end on a hard surface to reseat the nut, then reassemble and tighten the bolt.

Do not add lubricant to the outside of the shaft. Follow the model-specific troubleshooting instructions or contact Manhasset UK for guidance.

Selected models are available in a range of powder-coated colours, although UK availability varies. Custom colours may also be possible for larger projects, subject to quantity and lead time.
