The Manhasset Voyager replacement desk

The Manhasset MAN5202 is the genuine replacement desk for the Voyager music stand. It uses the same full-size solid aluminium desk as the complete Voyager, making it ideal for replacing a damaged or worn desk without replacing the rest of the stand.

The desk measures approximately 51 x 31.75cm with a 5.7cm deep ledge and attaches using the Voyager's quick-release twist-lock system. Its durable black powder-coated finish is designed to resist glare, scratches and regular handling during rehearsals, performances and transport.

Accessories

Yes. Many desks, bases, shafts and smaller components can be replaced, which can extend the working life of a stand rather than requiring the complete unit to be discarded.

The clear acoustic shield is designed to help protect a musician positioned in front of loud instruments while maintaining visibility across the ensemble. It is commonly used in orchestral and rehearsal settings.

The Shaft-Lock fits to a compatible Manhasset shaft when greater load capacity is required. It raises the supported load from around 8 lb to around 25 lb while retaining normal adjustment when unlocked.

Care and maintenance

Often, yes. Replacement parts are available for many models, and worn cosmetic finishes can sometimes be carefully prepared and refinished. Avoid altering working mechanisms in a way that could affect safety or warranty coverage.

Wipe the desk, shaft and base with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry them. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents and products that could damage the powder-coated finish or enter the clutch mechanism.

No. Do not apply oil or lubricant to the height-adjustment shaft, as this can reduce the holding power of the friction-grip clutch.

Check the carton and packing materials carefully, as small fixings can remain inside. Contact the supplying retailer promptly with the model and order details if anything is missing.

The tapered nut inside the shaft may have become unseated during transport. Fully compress the shaft, remove the base bolt, firmly tap the chrome end on a hard surface to reseat the nut, then reassemble and tighten the bolt.

Do not add lubricant to the outside of the shaft. Follow the model-specific troubleshooting instructions or contact Manhasset UK for guidance.

Choosing a stand

Selected models are available in a range of powder-coated colours, although UK availability varies. Custom colours may also be possible for larger projects, subject to quantity and lead time.

Standard Manhasset stands are robust but still manageable to carry between rooms. They are not designed to fold as small as a wire stand, so the Voyager with a foldable base, is the better choice for frequent travel.

Yes. Manhasset stands are widely used in orchestras, theatres, studios, rehearsal rooms and concert venues because they provide a stable, dependable surface for music.

Yes. Their stable bases, simple one-handed adjustment and robust construction make them particularly well suited to classrooms, rehearsal rooms, ensembles and music departments.

Most floor stands arrive in a 3 sections: The base, shaft, and desk, and require straightforward assembly. The necessary fixings are supplied, and model-specific instructions are available.

The shaft uses Manhasset's Magic Finger Clutch, allowing the desk to be raised or lowered with a simple push or pull. The friction-tilt neck holds the desk securely at the chosen angle without a separate tightening knob.

The standard shaft is designed to support approximately 3.6 kg. For heavier applications, the optional Shaft-Lock increases the supported load to around 11.3 kg.

Yes. A Manhasset is ideal for musicians who want a stable stand that can remain set up and hold books, folders and sheet music securely. The Symphony is usually the best home model.

A concert-style stand has a solid desk and a stable floor base rather than a folding wire frame. It is designed for regular rehearsal and performance use, with greater support for music and books.

Manhasset stands use a solid desk, a strong welded base and smooth knob-free adjustment. They are designed for stability and years of regular use, rather than folding into the smallest possible package.

The Symphony is the best all-round choice. Choose the Harmony when compact storage is important, the Voyager for regular travel, the Orchestral for a built-in accessory shelf, or one of the wider conductor models for large and multi-page scores.

What makes Manhasset stands special

A durable product that can be maintained and repaired may need replacing far less often. That long service life can reduce waste compared with repeatedly buying short-lived stands.

Yes. The same qualities that help in a school, including stability, simple adjustment and durability, are equally valuable in studios, orchestras, theatres and concert halls.

Yes. Replacement desks, shafts, bases and other components are available for many models, so damage to one part does not necessarily mean replacing the complete stand.

Yes. The broad desk and deep ledge can support folders, books, tablets and rehearsal notes, provided the total load stays within the stand's rated capacity.

The people making the stands have a direct stake in the company and its reputation, reinforcing the care, consistency and pride behind production.

Classic models use a heavy-gauge welded steel base designed to provide dependable balance and withstand repeated institutional use.

It allows the desk angle to be changed smoothly and held in position without loosening and retightening a separate handle.

Many classic models use a lightweight tempered aluminium desk that combines rigidity with manageable weight. Specialist models may use materials such as durable ABS or clear polycarbonate.

It is the internal friction mechanism that lets the desk move up or down with a simple push or pull, then holds it securely without a tightening knob.

Manhasset stands are made in Yakima, Washington, where the company has been based since the early 1940s.

Removing external height and angle knobs makes adjustment faster and reduces the number of small parts that can loosen, break or go missing during everyday use.

It reflects the manufacturer's confidence in the materials and workmanship. It also gives the original purchaser a clear route to repair or replacement if an eligible manufacturing defect develops.

Manhasset stands are built as long-term equipment, not a temporary accessory. Their robust construction, replaceable parts and lifetime warranty for qualifying music stands mean one purchase can support decades of music-making.

The solid rectangular desk, three-foot base and knob-free shaft have been used in music rooms and performance venues for generations, making the design instantly familiar to many musicians.
